A Mike Company patrol received 9 WIAs when it detonated a mine at YD 551307. Two of the casualties were serious and were medevaced by helicopter. The mine was of the box type consisting of at least 10 lbs with nuts and bolts for shrapnel. It was detonated by being stepped on and had a bursting radius of 30 meters.

I was the Marine that detonated the mine on 7 Jan. 1967 @ 0935.
I would like to say how I appreciate the effort you put forth in creating this database for all the Marines that served with the 3/26 in Vietnam.
